Nagpur: Four members of the Kadam family, who run the controversial Kadam Hospital in Arvi taluka of Wardha district, have been booked in another case filed by a special committee constituted under the PCPNDT Act.
Dr Rekha Kadam, her husband Dr Neeraj, and his parents Dr Shailaja and Dr Kumar Singh have been named in the latest FIR registered at Arvi’s police station for certain violations detected by the special team during joint inspection with the police. The police have also said that the family is also facing some charges, Including misuse of government drugs including expired drugs for personal use. Neeraj, a doctor working in Arvi’s government hospital, is already behind bars.
This family is already facing two FIRs long back, one for illegal abortion and one for rape, the other for keeping antelope skin. About 12 skulls, 54 bones, and a bag of blood bottles were removed from a bio-gas plant inside the hospital premises earlier this month.
Practicing without any registration
A study team of experts on the act of PCPNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) has also reached Wardha district on Tuesday to prepare the report of the case on the orders of the state government.
The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques committee of this district is also under investigation. Because one of its most prominent members was a close relative of Dr. Neeraj. Police sources had earlier said that the member had tried to enter Kadam Hospital alone late in the evening during the ongoing investigation. But a constable posted on guard duty had stopped him completely.
The family was also running the hospital with more beds than approved under Bombay’s Nursing Home Registration Act. Police have also told that Dr Kadam was also practicing in Maharashtra without any registration. The hospital has also not given any detailed report on the abortions performed by her to the concerned authorities. The inspection team has also not found any proper standard operating procedure for waste management and bio-waste disposal system.
