All loudspeakers will remain off from 10 pm to 6 am: CP

Taking a political and secular approach, Kumar has also announced a city-wide campaign against the use of all loudspeakers, flogging at wedding venues, concerts and other events from next week.

Nagpur: City Police Chief Amitesh Kumar has started talks with the bishops of various institutions to ensure that all the rules related to the use of loudspeakers are now implemented. And this includes imposing silence time between 10 am to 6 am at night time.

Taking a political and secular approach, Kumar has also announced a city-wide campaign against the use of all loudspeakers, flogging at wedding venues, concerts, and other events from next week.

The top policeman has said that along with this if any private organization, group, or any person wants to use a loudspeaker then they have to follow all the rules related to sound or noise very well, or else they should be human and ready to face action.

He and Addl CP Navinchandra Reddy, Joint CP Aswati Dorje, DCP Special branch Basavraj Teli and others have been engaging extensively with various religious and political groups on the issue of loudspeakers as well.

Kumar has also said that around 60-70 applications from various religious institutions have reached the city police for permission to use loudspeakers. He has said that in order to settle the issue of loudspeakers peacefully top police officers of the city have also started inviting heads of various institutions from different communities to exchange opinions on the use of all these loudspeakers. And at the same time, they have been allowed only within the legal framework.

Police is enforcing the law strictly

The CP has said that the police are still appealing to the people only in a cordial manner, But if there is even a single stone pelting anywhere, then there will be no hesitation in taking any action. And at the same time, no one group can reach out to the other in a malicious manner without the intervention of the police.

City police chief Amitesh Kumar has also said that many norms, such as silent hours, can become a kind of challenge to many religious rituals in the early hours of the day, But the laws will also be implemented in a phased manner over a period of time.

Amitesh Kumar said during an informal media interaction that the police were also discussing religious issues with different groups. And also trying to get out of every kind of situation. With this, the law will also remain in place, but they are appealing too much for cooperation from everyone. And every single religious places also need a loudspeaker very much and without them, everyone has to face many issues, But the police is enforcing the law very strictly.

Along with this, the top police officers have also appealed to the entire public to ban the use of loudspeakers and fit them within the guidelines and norms laid down by the judgment of the Supreme Court, the sound rules made by the Acts.
