Police of nagpur resumes breath analyzer test with disposable mouthpiece

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has said that the traffic police has already started using the breath analyzer from the evening time on Thursday.

Nagpur: After a gap of nearly two years, the traffic police of Nagpur on Thursday also started using breath analyzers to track the drivers of motorists who were driving under the influence of alcohol.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has said that the traffic police has already started using the breath analyzer from the evening time on Thursday. To avoid the spread of coronavirus cases, the traffic police will also use disposable mouthpieces.

He has also said that even after every test, the police will change the mouthpiece as well. Along with this, the city police have also procured a consignment of about 10,000 disposable mouthpieces.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sarang Awad also said that they have also started using breath analyzers under all 10 traffic zones. About 29 breath analyzers are also being used to do the test.

Procured disposable mouthpieces last year

Instructions have also been given to the traffic police to use disposable mouthpieces to conduct the test. Suspicious riders or drivers must also tear off the cover of the mouthpiece themselves to pass the alcometer test. Apart from this, the police have also been directed to use video cameras as well as body cameras to record the entire proceedings before testing the driver of a motor.

The traffic police had also stopped the alcometer test from March 2020. When some cases of coronavirus were seen in the city to stop the spread of the covid epidemic. Since the breath analyzer tests also require motorists to blow air into the alcometer Which are also used to measure the alcohol content in the driver’s breath.

Sources also said that the city’s traffic police had also procured disposable mouthpieces last year.
