The students of Nagpur University or Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) seem to have embarked upon with a progressive initiative called the Earn and Learn scheme. The students have so far received a positive response from the students. With this scheme, the varsity was able to absorb around 155 students for part-time work in its first phase.
Later in the second stage, we saw the varsity coming out for more than 45 students for the same. Dr. S N Prathan was seen initiating the scheme and is now seen modified in the initial stage. In the initial stage, it has seen getting a poor response. The students were seen getting different work in different departments in the university. The students were given work for around three hours a day and then paid accordingly.
The scheme really helped the students who are from the economically backward classes particularly the ones who come from rural areas. A number of students earlier worked as waiters in hotels and bars to support their education. Currently, the scheme is only for the students of Nagpur University who are into different departments. As per reports, all the colleges that are affiliated to Nagpur University can avail of the said scheme. Moreover, these colleges are planning to add similar things at their college premises as well.
