Leopard returns to Ambazari

The research center, which shares a common campus wall with Ambazari Biodiversity Park, informed the forest officials on Thursday.

Nagpur: IT Park Leopard has made a comeback in Ambazari Biodiversity Park. This leopard was first recorded in the evening hours of December 1, 2021, in a CCTV camera installed by the Directorate of Exploration and Research, Regional Atomic Mineral Centre, Wadi.

On Thursday, The research center, which shares a common campus wall with Ambazari Biodiversity Park, informed the forest officials, following which a team led by round officer Sunil Fulzele and Hingna RFO Ashish Ninawe launched the SRPF. The search has been started with the help of the team.

This team found pugmarks on the wall and it is also feared that this leopard may have come here only in search of pigs reared by the residents of the nearby slums. And during the search of the park, the leopard has been seen twice in the forest just near the Pandharbodi area.

The animal is still in its natural habitat. The Forest Department has installed 8 camera traps in the forest area.

Leopard regularly roams in Ambajari forest

It also seems that this leopard has adopted the urban area. And before this, the same leopard was seen on the date of 12 November 2021, just near gate number 3 in the Ordnance Factory premises.

And even before this, on the date of 17 October, an IAF officer had claimed that he had also seen a leopard inside the Maintenance Command Headquarters in Air Force Nagar.

A section of the residents of District Amravati Road has stated that this leopard is regularly coming inside Ambajari forest with the help of good tree cover of the ordnance factory along the banks of the Dhaba. And even before that, it had been seen by the residents.
