700+ patients in night shift but only eight nurses available

The all-day strike had started on Thursday as well and at least 131 nurses were available in Government Medical College and Hospital even during the day shift.

Nagpur: The services of patients are being severely affected due to the strike of nurses in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). On Friday, the strike continued for the second day as well. According to the Sangh, this will continue indefinitely from Saturday as they had not been called at all for talks till Friday night time.

The all-day strike had started on Thursday as well and at least 131 nurses were available in Government Medical College and Hospital even during the day shift. The situation worsened during the night shift as only about eight nurses were available. More than 700 patients have been admitted to the hospital.

Very few nurses were available on duty in the morning shift as well. All of them were employed in the ICU, surgery, and trauma departments as well as all-in-one emergency departments. Along with this, there was no nurse available in the ward at all. The relatives and relatives of the patients were also seen serving them. The condition of pregnant mothers in the labor ward was also very bad. Resident doctors were also doing extra work, but their numbers were also limited.

Follow the state-wise program of strike

Since both the government hospital administrations were not getting any option at all, due to this they started discharging the patients. On Friday also, more than 55 patients were discharged from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital, while 104 were discharged from Government Medical College and Hospital. Relatives of discharged patients complained that their patient was still not in a position to go home. But the doctors insisted on discharging them. Many patients went to the hospital on Friday afternoon and were also expecting to be admitted, But he was sent back home and asked to come to both the hospitals on Monday. Along with this, the situation in the pediatric ward was also very serious as the parents were asked to do nursing work.

The officials of the nurses union have also said that they will fully follow the state-wise program of strike and will also resort to indefinite strike from Saturday.
