Vidarbha artists making tableau of Maha’s Republic Day this year too

Nagpur: Fine artists, sculptures, and painters from the Vidarbha region, mostly newly-graduated young boys, are creating the Republic Day tableau for the whole of Maharashtra this year as well. Artists from Wardha, Yavatmal, and Nagpur are shaping up to be a tableau dedicated to ‘Biodiversity of Maharashtra’.

It is also learned that Nagpur-based art group Shubh Ads has included artists from Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal, But it cannot reveal their names at all before the start of the dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade. And the cast has already left for New Delhi to finalize the float and do the dress rehearsals. This year, R-Day celebrations are going to start from the date of 23 January. Culture Minister Amit Deshmukh has said that the special and prominent biodiversity of Maharashtra will be displayed on the float.
Species of endemic butterflies
Amit, while sharing the model photos of the tableau, said that the popular Kaas plateau of Satara district will be specially displayed during the parade. Maharashtra’s state trees, animals, birds, and newly discovered crabs will also be on display. This will be a completely different tableau in the Republic Day parade.
He said that Maharashtra is best known for its rich biodiversity. Apart from tigers, he has also selected Maldhok birds to perform. The stage carrying the model will be decorated with the Jarul, the state flower of Maharashtra.
An artist from Yavatmal, who has been working on these models for the last two months, has said that all the models are made of fiberglass. He has also said that apart from the Kaas plateau, the butterfly model of about 6 feet wide and 8 feet tall is the main attraction, It is known for a variety of seasonal wildflowers and species of endemic butterflies. They have tried to get a mix of very rare as well as very common flowers on the float.
