Nagpur Municipal Corporation suspends another auditor in Bogus Contracts Scam

Municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B also suspended Shobha Gandre on Friday. So far the number of employees who have been suspended in this scam has gone up to seven.

Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has also suspended another auditor in connection with a bogus contract scam. With this, Departmental enquiry (DE) is also likely to start against eight more officers and employees.

Municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B also suspended Shobha Gandre on Friday. So far the number of employees who have been suspended in this scam has gone up to seven. Shobha Gandre is also in fourth place from the Department of Accounts and Finance, facing suspension. And even before this an Accounts Officer and two auditors had also been suspended.

Along with this, the other three suspended employees were from the General Administration Department (GAD), Health (Medical) Department and the Project Department.

A Nagpur Municipal Corporation official has also told that Shobha Gandre was among the eight officers and employees along with this, after the recommendations of the inquiry report submitted by the committee headed by the commissioner Meena were accepted by the city chief, who was also given a show cause notice.

Committee headed by ruling party

It has been said that Shobha Gandre was also cleared to pay for fictitious contracts drawn up by the main accused – contractor Padmakar ‘Kolba’ Sakode. Because of this, Shobha Gandre has also been suspended.

Shobha Gandre was working as an assistant superintendent in the Nehru Nagar zone of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation officer has also said that approval has also been given to initiate Departmental enquiry against seven other officers and employees. Former chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Chilkar who lodged police complaint in the case, retired deputy commissioner Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, chief medical officer Dr Narendra Bahirwar, clerks Suresh Shivankar, Sunita Patil, Sunita Shahu, and finance officer and former chief accounts Hemant Thakre. The number of employees and officers who have faced DE has increased to 19.

Action recommended by the committee headed by ruling party leader Avinash Thakre is also pending. Along with this, the minutes of the meeting of the general body will also be taken after approval.
