Nagpur University releases online teaching notification for colleges, After delay

State Higher Education Minister Uday Samant had announced the closure of all online classes till the date of 15 February in view of the third wave caused by the variant Omicron of the coronavirus.

Nagpur: After an inordinate delay of five days, the University of Nagpur has finally issued a notification asking affiliated and run colleges to switch to online mode and stop offline teaching of students.

State Higher Education Minister Uday Samant had announced the closure of all online classes till the date of 15 February in view of the third wave caused by the variant Omicron of the coronavirus.

The NU top officials took 5 days to come up with a notification saying, In view of this danger for the students, In which colleges were asked to immediately switch to online mode. NU officials also said that the state’s higher and technical education department had also taken two days to issue a circular after the minister’s announcement.

However, the delay had created confusion among the college management, teachers, and students. Some colleges remained open till Tuesday, waiting for the notification of NU. Some teachers and students asked the NU officials to make their stand very clear, But no satisfactory answer was received at all. Instead, the authorities have solely blamed the government for the delay in the circular in this regard.

Attend Offline Classes

After the bad situation of last year returned to normal, the NU administration had allowed colleges to resume the offline mode of teaching on the date of 20 October.

Students have also pointed out that the latest notification issued by Registrar Raju Hiwse dated 8th January was actually posted on 10th January.

Some students had taken to social media to express their grievances against the university and colleges for forcing them too much to attend offline classes despite Samanta’s announcement. According to him, too much delay can spread a very deadly infection between him and the teachers, Because the classes were offline for the last several days. He directly blamed the NU officials and the college management for neglecting his own safety.

Some of them have also said that colleges were still calling them for practicals, Even the government had directed everyone to move to online mode. Along with this, the aggrieved students have also demanded that colleges and universities should conduct vaccination campaigns for them in their campuses so that they are completely safe from covid.
