NMC starts increasing the number of Covid testing centers, healthcare workers

At present, the focus of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is on increasing the coronavirus test (both rapid antigen and RT-PCR).

Nagpur: With the spike in the cases of coronavirus, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has started strengthening its preparations. Including increasing the paramedical staff, the number of doctors, testing centers, and recruiting lab technicians.

At present, the focus of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is on increasing the coronavirus test (both rapid antigen and RT-PCR). Additional Municipal Commissioner Ram Joshi has said that the number of testing centers will be increased from 41 to more than 100. Municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan has directed to increase the number of mobile vans as they can reach more citizens and also help in testing. Because of this, Nagpur Municipal Corporation will work on increasing the mobile testing vans from 10 to 70.

Apart from the 800-odd Nagpur Municipal Corporation staff of the health department (pharmaceuticals) during the second wave of covid, the civic body had recruited around 1000 more personnel.

Ram has said that the process of recruitment of lab doctors, technicians, and paramedical staff has started once again. Apart from recruiting 47 doctors, Nagpur Municipal Corporation will also appoint 186 nurses.

The civic body started recruiting data entry operators who will track the records of coronavirus patients.

Hospitalization Covid Patients

Mobile van teams have also visited markets and commercial places in Cotton Market, Mahal Market, Khamla Bazar, Dhantoli Garden, Eternity Mall, Bhudwari Bazar, and Kalamana Bazar and do both rapid antigen and RT-PCR tests.

Ram has said that they will deploy paramedical and doctor staff in these hospitals. Nagpur Municipal Corporation has already received the demand for paramedical staff from AIIMS.

Currently, the hospitalization of patients with coronavirus is very less and if it increases, Then the civic body will send many employees posted at the testing centers to the hospitals run by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

Ram has also said that two hospitals of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Isolation Hospital in Imamwada and Indira Gandhi Rognalaya are also ready to accept corona patients.

According to Ram, this time there will be no shortage of beds and oxygen facilities in the city. Oxygen plants have been developed in the premises of some government and private hospitals.
