Policeman booked for allegedly ‘molesting’ pregnant woman, suspended

Navi Mumbai: A pregnant woman was allegedly ‘molested’ in the road rage incident that took place in Kharghar on Tuesday evening. And a case has been registered against a policeman for roughing him up. He was found drunk while driving, and the police have also said that he has now been suspended.

Then the bike rider chased and stopped the car some distance away.

A heated argument ensued between the accused constable Dinesh Mahajan (46) and the bike rider. The complaint also states that the car driver claimed that he was a crime branch officer and had also placed a ‘police’ placard on the dashboard. Police officers have also said on this that this is untrue; He is of the rank of constable.

The pregnant woman’s complaint also states that during the argument the car driver grabbed her hand and pushed her. A crowd had gathered on the spot and then later the police reached there and took both parties to the Kharghar police station.

A police officer has also said that the medical examination of the constable has also confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol. As the pregnant woman has also stated that she was assaulted by the car driver, she has been taken for medical examination.

Constable Dinesh Mahajan has been suspended, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Patil confirmed late in the evening. Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane has also said that the constable has not been arrested at all.
