Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda sent to custody till Sept 9

Mumbai: Soon after a chat between Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik and a 20-year-old  drug peddler surfaced on social media, the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Showik and Sushant Singh Rajput’s ex-manager Samuel Miranda in drug angle of the late actor’s death case on Friday night under the NDPS act.

The duo were kept at a hospital in Mumbai and were underwent drug test. For further investigation, the NCB officials have taken them both to Mumbai’s Esplanade Court to seek their custody for 7 days. The court has further sent Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda to remand till Sept 9.

A team of doctors from Delhi’s AIIMS has been taken to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Mumbai residence by the CBI on Saturday for forensic examination. Last month, the CBI sought assistance from the AIIMS in this death case.

Sources reveal that Showik Chakraborty was involved in the buying and selling of various drugs including marijuana, ganja and curated marijuana. He is also believed to have been in touch with alleged drug peddler Abdel Basit Parihar who used to purchase drugs from Zaid Vilatra (resident of Mumbai) and Kaizan Ibrahim.

The NCB also arrested Zaid Vilatra and Abdul Basit Parihar while Kaizan Ibrahim is being interrogated since Thursday.

According to sources, Zaid Vilatra revealed that he was paid a sum of rupees ten thousand for handing over 5 grams of drug to two people indicating them to be Showik and Samuel.

Soon after the arrest news of Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda, actor Shekhar Suman tweeted from an unverified account expressing his views on the same. “The first step toward success. congrats all of you. The small fish are caught. Now the time for the Big Sharks. I hope they are caught soon. The industry is cleaned up. The caucus is busted. The kingpins are arrested. Amen,” he tweeted.
