Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty has been sent to 14 days judicial custody and she will spent her night at the temporary lockup located at Narcotics Central Bureau (NCB) office in Mumbai. The CMM court also rejected her bail plea, saying that it cannot grant the same in cognisable offences.
Rhea’s lawyer Satish Manshinde, however, may file bail application in the sessions court tomorrow.
Earlier, after a three-day long questioning, the Narcotics Central Bureau (NCB), on Tuesday, arrested actress Rhea Chakraborty in the drug angle involved in the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
She was later taken for a medical examination where she underwent a COVID-19 test before being produced before the CMM court.
Rhea’s name in the drug angle came after the Enforcement Directorate recovered a deleted drug chat from her mobile phone which was later shared with CBI and soon NCB launched its probe into the illegal substance matter.
A case was registered against Rhea , her brother Showik Chakraborty and others by the NCB on August 26 under Sections 20, 22, 27, and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The NCB had also slapped criminal charges against Rhea in drug conspiracy angle related to Sushant’s alleged suicide case.
NCB had also arrested Showik and Rhea’s manager Samuel Miranda after carrying out a raid at their residence on Friday under Sections 8C, 28, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Sushant’s house help Dipesh was also taken into NCB custody. The two were sent in NCB remand for four days by a Mumbai Court after which Samuel and Dipesh reportedly revealed that Rhea used to purchase illegal drugs for the late actor’s home.
The MS Dhoni actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence in Mumbai on June 14.
