Vaccination not mandatory for ICSE students, clarifies board

Maharashtra's School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had also raised this issue when students of the state complained to her that all schools were asking for certificates of vaccination

Nagpur: A vaccination certificate is no longer required at all for all the students of the ICSE board to appear in the examination which is slated to begin next week.

The CISCE conducts the ICSE (X) and ISC (XII) examinations. They have made it very clear that he has never made covid vaccination mandatory for the children of the board at all. Along with this, Maharashtra’s School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had also raised this issue when students of the state complained to her that all schools were asking for certificates of vaccination.

Late on Friday too, Varsha Gaikwad tweeted a statement on behalf of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations on Twitter that he had issued an advisory only for vaccination, but never made it mandatory at all.

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations Chief Executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon also said in a statement that affiliated schools have also been advised that also encourage parents and guardians in their schools to vaccinate all their children in the age group of 15-18 years.

Arathoon further wrote that this is only an advisory. It is neither mandatory nor any pre-condition for the candidates appearing for the ICSE and ISC 2022 Semester 2 examination commencing from the date of 25 April.

Varsha Gaikwad also tweeted on Twitter that, she thanked Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations for his prompt explanation. They also hope that this will remove all the concerns of all the students and parents. And in an earlier tweet also, Varsha Gaikwad had said that vaccines are life-saving, and it is discriminatory at all not to allow students without covid vaccination to appear in board exams.

The CBSE board exams are also now starting from next week itself, and the major papers will continue throughout the month of May, while the overall exam will continue till the month of June.

The state board of Maharashtra has already wrapped its SSC and HSC exams in offline mode.
