Midc Police raided Savannah Farm in Wandongri

Police have registered a case against five people including the manager and started criminal action against them.

Nagpur: Police of Midc have raided Savanna Farm in the Wanadongri area for illegally serving hookah to their customers. Police have registered a case against five people including the manager and started criminal action against them. In this case, the people caught smoking hookah during the raid were also surrounded by the police.

The accused have been identified as Nishant Himanshu Joshi (27), a resident of Flat No. 403, Vayusena Nagar, Dabha; Sumeet Vilas Vilaytkar (24), a resident of Jai Nagar, Pratik UttamThakre (34), a resident of Flat No. 48, Madhuban Apartment, Khare Town; Jagat Millennium Apartment, Giripeth; Ambazari and Jitu Rajesh Kohale (23), a resident of Jai Nagar, Ambazari, Chandu Namdeorao Patil (59), a resident of Plot No. 8.

Umesh Besarkar, Senior PI, Police Station, MIDC has said that the police have also received some complaints about illegal activities in the restaurant.

He has said that after taking action on the information, raids have also been conducted. The restaurant has also been found defying the restrictions imposed by the state government under the Epidemic Act. The restaurant is located in a secluded place on the road connecting Wanadongri to Wadi and is reportedly charging customers around Rs 1,000 per hookah pot. When the police officers raided the restaurant, then people were found smoking hookah there. Police officials have confiscated 10 hookah utensils and tobacco. DCP Zone Lohit Matani was also on night patrol then and he reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

An offense was registered against these accused under the provisions of the COTPA Act and Epidemic Diseases Act. The raids were conducted by employees including PI Besarkar, HC Nutan Singh, API Prashant Sable, and staff including Ismail, Pankaj, Gajanan, Vipin, Rakesh, Deepak, Jitendra, Vinita Bodile, and Vikrant.
