Water still contaminated, residents of Kalpana Nagar stormed the NMC headquarters

Nagpur: The continuous supply of contaminated drinking water has created a lot of furor among the residents of Kalpana Nagar. Those who have alleged that the NMC has completely failed to resolve the issue completely despite some complaints.

On the date of April 4, the residents of Kalpana Nagar had staged a sit-in at the Nagpur Municipal Corporation headquarters regarding this problem. But even after a lapse of about a week, the water supplied is getting completely contaminated.

On Monday, residents – mostly women from the area – stormed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation headquarters and then also met the civic chief Radhakrishnan B. Who has asked for one month’s time to get the issue resolved completely. A senior official of the Public Health Engineering Department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has said that a new water pipeline will be laid.

Former corporator Neha Nikose has said that this issue has come to the fore after a sewage network in the area was completely damaged. And now the drinking water is getting dirty water.

Neha Nikose also said that the Public Health Engineering Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation has laid a sewage network parallel to this water pipeline. This matter has come to the fore when some residents started falling ill due to contaminated water.

Most of the areas are also heavily affected

The former corporator has wondered how the civic body can lay a sewage network parallel to the water network. And she also said that very ideally, these two should be on either side of the road.

Former Congress councilor Manoj Sangole has also visited the Nagpur Municipal Corporation office to ventilate the problems of the residents of the MHADA Colony. Which are plagued by the absolute non-availability of drinking water. He said that hindering access to drinking water for the people of North Nagpur. The ongoing construction of an overhead tank has come to a complete standstill for many days.

Manoj Sangole also said that it is not yet known why the work is progressing at a very slow pace even after paying a few times more than the estimated rate. And he also suspected that it could be the handiwork of the tanker mafia. Along with this, the former Congress councilor, while talking to the administrator, has also demanded penal action against the contractor concerned.

Sangole has informed the Municipal Corporation chief that contaminated water is being received in some areas of North Nagpur including Sanyal Nagar, Shende Nagar, Kalpana Nagar, Kapil Nagar, Awale Nagar, Sajgruh Nagar, Manav Nagar, and Takshashila Nagar. And most of the areas are also heavily affected by the supply of very low-pressure water.
