For 2nd time in 3 days, district Coronavirus cases cross 2,000-mark

The number of cases has gone up to 1,732 on Friday, before jumping again to the nearly 2,000 mark before jumping over 400 on Saturday.

Nagpur: On Thursday, a jump of more than 600 have been seen in the cases of coronavirus of district Nagpur as compared to the previous day. And for the first time in 303 days, the nearly 2,000 mark has been crossed.

The number of cases has gone up to 1,732 on Friday, before jumping again to the nearly 2,000 mark before jumping over 400 on Saturday.

About 2,150 cases have been registered in the district on Saturday and one patient from outside the district has died.

Even before Thursday, the district saw more than 2,000 cases in a single day for the first time on the date of March 13, 2021. At the time when there were also seven deaths, Because the second wave of covid was starting. On the date of March 13, 2021, the jump of one day compared to the previous day was only about 100 covid cases.

Simultaneously, it has taken nearly 29 days for the district to cross nearly 2,000 cases only after the daily count increased during the second wave of covid. But now, after the increase in cases from the date of December 24, 2021, it has taken only 20 days to cross the nearly 2,000 mark.

Increase in covid cases

During the first wave of covid, 44 deaths and 1,639 cases as on September 14, 2020, was the highest single-day tally in the district till the start of the second wave of covid in mid-February 2021.

On the date of March 13, 2021, After crossing the 2,000 mark the covid cases have remained above this level and on the date of April 24, 2021, reached 7,999. Because of this, the increase in covid cases has continued for 42 days, Because of which the healthcare system has collapsed.

The district has recorded the highest number of 112 deaths as on May 2, 2021, a week after the peak of the second wave of covid.

The district has so far recorded 12,738 cases out of 1,36,776 tests and seven deaths, in January 2022. This comes to a test positivity rate (TPR) of around 9.31%, Which was in decimal between the months of July and December last year.

Less than 100, active cases have risen to 9,814 till the month of December. However, according to the data of the Office of District Health, only 2,150 are in isolation or in hospitals.
