NAGPUR: A brawl between a group of friends, some of whom had criminal records, after heavy drinking, led to the murder of one of them in Datta Nagar late on Sunday evening.

Aatish Thakre, who had been in exile earlier, was also enjoying a drink with his friends near Old Kamptee Road. Police sources also say that Aatish Thakre was already in a very bad mood because of a separate incident and as the drinking session escalated, he started abusing people around him.
Three accused had to come to their house on Sunday
His drinking buddies, Sohail Shaikh (22), Asif Ali (21), and Rahul Bagde (19) also engaged in a war of words with him, which also led to Aatish Thakre’s murder. All three pelted Aatish Thakre’s head with stones till he breathed his last. Liquor bottles and blood-stained stones have been found on the spot.
Aatish Thakre’s elder brother Satish also told the police that the three accused had to come to their house on Sunday. Satish has also told that all three then took his brother Aatish along and since they were his friends, there was no hesitation at all from anyone’s side.
Senior Police Inspector Devendra Thakur, relying on human intelligence, also detected the accused and finally caught them. Devendra Thakur said, “We are probing the matter, and prima facie it appears that the murder was not premeditated. When the altercation started, all were drunk and after that, the matter escalated and reached the murder.
He has also told that all three accused have been arrested.
