Around 60 percent polling has been done till Sunday afternoon

Nagpur/Amravati: As per the information provided by the officials, 59.87% of polling has been recorded till 3.30 pm in the Gram Panchayat (GP) elections in the district on Sunday. And in the Amravati, around 62.44% of the vote was cast in the same time period.
In Nagpur too, polling was held for 234-gram panchayats in which about 4.28 lakh voters were registered. Katol and Bhivapur talukas were the only ones where polling was more than 70% – 73.05% and 73.68% respectively. The lowest voter turnout was recorded in Saoner, where only 47.82% of voters cast their votes.
In Amravati, polling for 252 out of 257 gram panchayats in about 14 tehsils of the district has been completed smoothly. And the voters also exercised their franchise at 817 polling stations to elect their representatives. In Amaravati, 62.44% of the total 3,48,631 voters had cast their votes by 3.30 pm on Sunday.
Voting was held in 26 gram panchayats of Chikhaldara tehsil on Sunday
Anjangaon Surji tehsil, where elections were held for the 13 gram panchayats, recorded the highest voter turnout of 71.84% till 3.30 pm. And also the polling started at 7.30 am and only 9.54% of votes were cast in the first two hours. In the next two hours, the percentage had increased to 25.33. By 1.30 pm, 43.99% of votes had been cast.
In Amravati, maximum in Amravati district, voting was held in the 26 gram panchayats of Chikhaldara tehsil on Sunday. And it was followed by Chandur Railway and Nandgaon Khandeshwar (17 each), Anjangaon Surji (13), Daryapur (25), Chandur Bazar and Morshi (24 each), Achalpur, Warud, and Dharni (23 each), Bhatkuli (11), Amravati and Teosa (12 each), and Dhamangaon Railway (7).
The counting of votes is going to happen in the concerned tehsil on the date of 20th December.
