Bawankule will go Supreme Court to postpone civic elections
While talking to media persons on Monday, Bawankule has also said that since the Maha Vikas Aghadi government had sought about three months' time from the apex court to submit the empirical data of OBCs.
Nagpur: MLC’s Chandrashekhar Bawankule will approach the Supreme Court to postpone the civic body elections by nearly 3 months. They will also pray for a direction to the State Election Commission to immediately withdraw their letter to all municipal corporations and councils to finalize multi-member wards for the upcoming elections without reserving seats for OBCs.
While talking to media persons on Monday, Bawankule has also said that since the Maha Vikas Aghadi government had sought about three months’ time from the apex court to submit the empirical data of OBCs, He will request the judges there to postpone the election of the body till that time.
The government of Maharashtra has not done anything yet to continue the reservation of OBCs. It has only played football with this issue, placing the burden on the NDA government at the Centre. The Maha Vikas Aghadi was in a swoon after the apex court passed its first order on the reservation of OBCs dated December 13, 2019, and the second order dated March 4, 2021. Despite the fact that it was not at all suitable for submission to the SC, It wasted time blaming the Center for not providing empirical data at all.
Civic Body Elections
Accusing the Maha Vikas Aghadi constituents Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP of misleading people on the same issue, the former power minister has said that they have delayed the reservation of OBCs by more than one and a half years.
Along with this, even Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar are not too serious about giving reservations to the community. He also wants to provide seats reserved for OBC candidates to rich and influential persons. They have absolutely no faith in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government that it has assured the SC to submit the empirical data on OBCs within about three months.
The former Kampti MLA has accused state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal of indulging in gimmicks over the issue of allegedly provoking the Samata Parishad to oppose the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre. Along with this, he has also demanded a property tax waiver for every small house in this entire Maharashtra. Like the Shiv Sena party-led government had announced for Mumbai ahead of the civic body elections there.
