Collector asks MIDC officials to report factory fire

The fire killed the laborers Adesh Dahiwale, Hemraj Armo, and Anurodh Madavi on the spot, while three others were grievously injured.

Nagpur: District Collector Vipin Itankar has written to the MIDC Regional Officers to submit a detailed investigation report to probe the cause and other details of the Kataria Agro factory fire in Nipani Sonegaon.

The collector has said about this that MIDC officials are going to visit the spot with their team. “We will also take up the issue of compensation with the government,” said Vipin Itankar.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had earlier expressed concern over the entire incident by tweeting on Twitter. And urged the Collector to monitor the status of the matter and coordinate with administrative agencies to extend possible help and assistance to the victims.

The employee had exited from the rear side of the unit

TOI had earlier reported several irregularities in the factory in terms of fire fighting arrangements like non-functioning of hydrants, sprinklers etc.

Meanwhile, according to MIDC Fire Station Officer Anand Parab, the cause of the fire and explosion is yet to be ascertained.

He said, “Though the fire was brought under control on April 24, But till Tuesday, the fire department continued to douse many smoldering objects.” and added, “One of the missing laborers was traced on Monday night. The employee had exited from the rear side of the unit when the fire broke out.”

A large quantity of raw material, which is very essential for the manufacture of biomass fuel pellet products, had been stored and caught fire and the entire area was engulfed in flames.
