Leopard killed on NH6 near Jambhli

The carcass of this tigress was seen inside about 50 meters of the forest.

Nagpur: An eight-year-old male leopard, who narrowly survived about four months ago, died in a road accident on Sunday morning near Jambhali in the Lakhani range of Bhandara forest division.

The carcass of this tigress was seen inside about 50 meters of the forest. This is the third death of a leopard on NH-6 in the last four months.

Former Honorary Wildlife Warden Nadeem Khan has also said that the accident site is also part of the buffer zone of the Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve (NNTR). This leopard was hit by a speeding vehicle near Mohaghta on 26th July.

“During the postmortem of the leopard, it has also been found that the leopard had several old injuries on its body and its hind limbs were also damaged. The place where a wildlife overpass is being constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), The animal was also knocked down barely 500 meters from the same spot,” said Former Honorary Wildlife Warden Nadeem Khan.

Leopard was hit by a speeding vehicle on NH 53 (NH6)

On the date of 26th July, the leopard was hit by a speeding vehicle, and then the leopard was lying unconscious in the middle of the road. Then when a beat guard Krishna Sanap went near to find out whether the animal was dead or alive, Then the leopard suddenly attacked him and then disappeared into the bushes. Then after this, the leopard was not seen anywhere.

On 23rd July, a leopard was hit by a speeding vehicle on NH 53 (NH6) while crossing the road near the Sendurwafa toll booth. Another leopard died on the date of 16 October on NH6 near Amravati city.
