Meteorological Department issues heat wave warning for Vidarbha as mercury rises

Officials of the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC), Nagpur have said that heat wave warnings have also been issued for various districts of the Vidarbha region including Wardha, Washim, Nagpur, Akola, Yavatmal and Amravati.

Nagpur: The temperature has started rising in this area, In some districts, heat wave is also going on now. Akola district was the hottest at 42.9 degrees Celsius in the region on Wednesday. Then after this, the place of Wardha and Washim has been hot, which is 41.5 and 41.4 degrees Celsius respectively. Nagpur district also recorded the maximum temperature of 40.9 degrees Celsius on the same day itself.

The Meteorological Department, in its heatwave warning for all the people, has advised citizens to stay indoors as much as possible. And to prevent this heat, use traditional remedies like onion salad, raw mango with salt and cumin. It has been said in the warning that you must offer water to the vendors and delivery people who come to your office or home. Do not burn agricultural residues, dry leaves, and garbage at all, as this will increase the heat greatly.

Increase the frequency and length

Advice to all citizens to drink enough water even if they are not thirsty for water. The advisory states that persons with heart, epilepsy, kidney or liver diseases who are on a fluid-restricted diet or have fluid retention problems, Those people must consult a doctor before increasing the fluid intake. People must use oral rehydration solution (ORS), homemade drinks like torani (rice water), lassi, buttermilk, coconut water, lemonade etc. to keep themselves hydrated.

The Meteorological Department has also advised the officials to take strict action during the cold time of the day. The advisory has also been added to increase the frequency and length of rest for outdoor activities. And at the same time, extra attention must be given to pregnant women and workers with health conditions.
