Chandrapur: Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has celebrated its 28th foundation day. The TATR Conservation Foundation has decided to share about 33% of its income directly with the Environmental Development Committees (EDCs) of the villages in the buffer zone of the park.
Area Director and CCF, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, Jitendra Ramgaonkar have also said that this decision had already been taken in the previous meeting of the foundation chaired by Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
This is the first time in the history of Tiger Reserves that conservation foundations in the state are also going to directly share the income from tourism activities with the EDC. So that they can be helped in planning the development of their villages.
Earlier, the foundation used to carry out development work by preparing a complete micro plan for the development of forest villages in the buffer zone. “However, it has now been decided to directly share 33% of the foundation’s income with the EDCs of the 95 villages under the buffer zone. The EDCs of the villages will plan and execute development works on their own with the help of this money.” Jitendra Ramgaonkar explained.
