In the last 7 days, 3,121 new cases of coronavirus have been found in the Vidarbha region. Most of them can also be infected with the Omicron virus variant.

The current round of hospitals in Nagpur district shows that out of about 2,050 ‘active cases’, only 199 patients are either in the hospital or in coronavirus care centers. About 20 of them require a lot of oxygen, up to 3 liters, which is not very much. Out of 257 covid patients treated in Amravati district, 234 are at home. Chandrapur district 140 out of 147 patients are in home isolation.

Mildly Symptomatic Patients

Dr. Nitin Shinde, an expert in infectious diseases, has said that the next two weeks are very important. Some patients got coronavirus infection during the delta wave in the Vidarbha region. Then there was vaccination. Because of this some of them have hybrid immunity due to recent infections and vaccines. Such patients will either not be infected at all, or will recover without symptoms. Around 90% of the patients admitted to his hospital (Alexis) are asymptomatic and were found positive during mandatory RT-PCR even before elective surgery or delivery etc.

Some asymptomatic or even mildly symptomatic patients are quite eager to be admitted to the hospital. Dr. Nitin has said that unnecessary hospitalization should be avoided. There is no need to be admitted if you have mild symptoms of covid. They will be fine at home.
