100 huts burnt in Nagpur fire; no casualties

There is no news of any casualties yet in the fire that broke out at around 10.2 am in Mahakali Nagar in the Beltarodi area, where many laborers live.

Nagpur: A very dangerous fire broke out in a residential area in Nagpur city of Maharashtra on Monday, nearly 100 huts have been gutted.

There is no news of any casualties yet in the fire that broke out at around 10.2 am in Mahakali Nagar in the Beltarodi area, where many laborers live.

Nagpur Municipal Corporation Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Uchake said that this massive fire started from the eastern side of the settlement. And spread very quickly in the area as LPG cylinders explode, wind, high temperatures, and flammable materials used in hut construction such as plastic sheets and cloth,

He said that around 100 huts had been burnt in this massive fire. Houses with concrete construction (RCC brickwork) prevented the fire from spreading further and were not affected much.

He said that seven water tenders, two water borers, two water lifting pump units, one water tender fire service from Mihan (Multi Modal International and cargo hub airport at Nagpur), And a water cannon of the Police Department had already been put into service.

Fire was brought under control in about an hour

He also said that several ambulances had also been kept on standby as a precaution.

The official also said that there was absolutely no proper road of any kind for fire extinguishers to enter the area.

Rajendra Uchake said that the fire was completely brought under control in about an hour and there were no reports of any casualties.

Earlier, an official had also said that the local residents had also reported the missing of a minor girl in the area. Then later he said that it may also happen that the girl may have reunited with her family members as neither the police nor the officials were in touch within this matter.

Then after the incident, Nagpur’s district collector R Vimala, guardian minister Nitin Raut, and senior police officials visited the spot.
