Helmet-required rule for government office entry goes for a toss

On the date of 22 March, Transport Commissioner Avinash Dhakne had also issued a circular directing all 50 RTOs across the state to implement the rules. According to the circular, two-wheeler riders will be allowed to enter all government offices, educational institutions, and organizations only if they are wearing helmets. This rule was to come into force from the date of issue of the circular.

But after about eight days, some of the employees and officers working in his department of the Avinash Dhakne – the regional transport offices – sub east, city, and rural – Were reluctant to follow the rules.

Even in the collectorate, people without wearing helmets have become unruly. However, some police personnel had already been posted on regular duty. There are also about a dozen departments on the premises of the collector’s office.

Regarding use of mandatory helmet for commuting to office

Most of the officers have been seen as unaware and confused by the order issued by the Transport Commissioner.

The scenario of Nagpur municipal corporation Headquarters in Zonal Offices and Civil Lines across the city was no different.

Senior officials of government offices like Education, the Social Welfare Department and the Nagpur municipal corporation zonal offices have claimed that they have not received any circular at all regarding the use of a mandatory helmet for commuting to the office.

The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Civil Lines has also not received any such communication from the Commissioner of Transport and the Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) in the same regard.
