All India Institute of Medical Sciences-N to start recruitments on rolling basis

Thirty three posts including Professors, Additional Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors have been advertised on rolling basis.

Nagpur: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which is facing an acute shortage of staff, will be recruited on a rolling basis for many faculty posts. Now the posts are coming once again as they were advertised earlier but were not filled due to some reasons. The much-awaited promotion is also now likely to start very soon.

Thirty three posts including Professors, Additional Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors have been advertised on rolling basis. These posts were advertised in the month of January and February this year but these posts remained vacant.

The shortage of senior doctors has severely affected patient care at all levels. Only emergency surgery and trauma cases are dealt with on top priority. In some cases, the waiting list stretches for almost two months.

AIIMS Nagpur Executive Director (Additional) Dr MH Rao has told TOI that the institute is going to conduct the interview for the shortlisted candidates on Saturday. “We have already given joining letters to 11 senior residents. Once the interviews are done, we hope to reduce the waiting list for surgeries,” they said and added they need more anesthetists to run additional operation theatres.

Assessment promotion scheme process was also never done by the previous director

Dr. Rao, who also holds the charge of AIIMS Madurai, said that the process of promotion of faculty under the Assessment Promotion Scheme (APS) is also going to start very soon. There is a great need for the institute to constitute a permanent panel and screening committee under the assessment promotion scheme as well.

The assessment promotion scheme process was also never done by the previous director. Some promotions were done, but these were not at all under the assessment promotion scheme.

“In the first batch of 2018, some had joined and some of them had also left. The assessment promotion scheme was never conducted then, though quite a few faculty members have been eligible for it,” said sources.
