Nagpur: Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde have defended the arrest of former minister Jitendra Awhad by the Vartak Nagar police in Thane on Saturday.
The NCP MLA was also arrested on Friday for stalling a show of the Marathi film ‘Har Har Mahadev’ along with his supporters and on Tuesday for assaulting a businessman inside the theatre.
During an interaction with the media at the airport, Eknath Shinde said that Awhad had allegedly created a lot of ruckus in a cinema hall and due to this action was taken against him as per law. He has also said that there is no political interference in this matter in any way. Responding to a question, the chief minister also said that the experience of veteran Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Gajanan Kirtikar, who had joined his ranks, would help the Shiv Sena (Balasaheb) in the long run.
The Deputy CM has said that the government will also ensure
Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, who is holding the Home Ministry, has also made it abundantly clear that anyone copying similar acts will meet the same fate as Awhad as no one should take law and order into their own hands. “Ahwad, along with his supporters, also thrashed the audience and created a ruckus in the theatre. After registering a complaint against him, a crime has also been registered. Making a fuss out of anything is his style.” They said.
The Deputy CM has also said that the government will also ensure that once again there will be no encroachment near Afzal Khan’s grave and if any structure comes, it will be removed immediately. He has also said that he is lucky that the BJP has given him the responsibility of campaigning for the assembly elections in Gujarat next month. Entire Gujarat is also behind the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under his leadership, the BJP will register a thumping victory.” They said.
