Heart attack patient forced to distribute ambulance, sit in the front seat

Nagpur: The Rajiv Ratan Central Hospital of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) reportedly referred a cardiac patient with complaints of stroke and breathlessness, Who was in a very panic condition even in the front seat of an ambulance, next to the driver for treatment, about 23 km away. And in the same ambulance, there were another patient and six or more relatives in the patient’s cabin. The hospital did not send any doctor or nurse at all.

A family friend Dilip Pittalwar told TOI, “Doctors have done ECG and also said that he is in dire need of further diagnosis and treatment at a private hospital in Chandrapur. Along with this, he has also been given medicines and saline. An ambulance has been prepared for him.”

After this, the doctors also decided to send an elderly patient to the same ambulance. And there was only one bed inside. Pittalwar has also said that he has requested him to send an ambulance separately. “At the same time, there were two ambulances in the hospital. But Dr D Shambharkar has also suggested hiring a private ambulance.”

An ambulance service provider has said that it was against the norms

Dr. D Shambharkar has also said that all the claims were absolutely wrong. Dr DC Anand, Medical Officer of the WCL area has also claimed that Babita was not a heart patient, and only one ambulance was available at that time. “The patient absolutely refused to sit with the other patient, and voluntarily sat in the front cabin as well,” said Dr. Anand.

Dr. D Shambharkar has also said that all the claims were false. Dr DC Anand, Medical Officer of the WCL area has also claimed that Babita was not a heart patient, and only one ambulance was available at that time. “The patient has absolutely refused to sit with the other patient, and has also voluntarily sat in the front cabin,” said Dr. Anand.

After reading the referral letter of Western Coalfields Limited, Dr. Nitin Shinde, Consultant, Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases said, “Even according to the doctors’ diagnosis, he could have had an acute heart attack. And he needed to be sent to a cardiac ambulance in a sleeping position with paramedics and equipment for basic life support.”

Meanwhile, an ambulance service provider has also said that it was against the norms, “The front seat is for assistant or technician. Even doctors and nurses are not allowed to sit here at all.”
