Dubai: Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam smashed unbeaten half-centuries as Pakistan registered an impressive 10-wicket win over India in the opening match of their T20 World Cup campaign in Dubai.
Chasing a target of 152 runs, the Pakistan team’s opener looks comfortable as the bowlers of the India team are constantly looking for a breakthrough.
Earlier India skipper Virat Kohli has scored his 29th fifty in this T20I even before being dismissed for 57 by Shaheen Shah Afridi. Because India’s team posted 151/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was also on full fire as he sent back India openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma before Hasan Ali had given the Pakistan team an even more spectacular start in the match by removing Suryakumar Yadav.
Virat Kohli hit five fours and a six in his innings. Rishabh Pant also scored 39 runs in 30 balls before Shadab Khan was dismissed. Which included two fours and two sixes.
Hardik Pandya completely failed to go into the death overs but India’s team psychologist was completely successful in crossing the 150-run mark. Virat Kohli dropped Shardul Thakur, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rahul Chahar, and Ishan Kishan from the playing XI itself. Varun Chakaravarthy did the line-up.
India would be hoping to seal a win and give their campaign a very good start against a top Pakistan team. Which also has some match winners. Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan team, won the toss in the match and decided to bowl first.
