Maharashtra Pollution Control Board ​to check pollution by private railway siding at Tadali MIDC

NGO working for environmental protection has alleged that the private railway siding has violated the agreed norms of the pollution control department and caused high pollution in the area.

Chandrapur: The regional office of Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) here has started an investigation into the complaint filed by the Sanjeewani Paryawaran Samajik Sanstha (SPSS) against Vimala Infrastructure (India) Pvt Ltd.

An NGO working for environmental protection has alleged that the private railway siding has violated the agreed norms of the pollution control department and caused high pollution in the area. The chairman of Sanjeewani Paryawaran Samajik Sanstha whose name is Rajesh Bele, has claimed in his complaint that Vimala Infrastructure Western Coal Fields (WCL) provides 1 private platform for transportation of coal to various companies by taking coal from the mines. He has also alleged that the coal brought by these companies over railway sidings is mixed with coal and then more pollution is caused by coal mines, due to which high pollution occurs.

Rajesh has demanded an inquiry into the pollution caused by railway sidings in the region, citing growing health issues such as cancer, heart disease, asthma, skin, and tuberculosis, all eye and respiratory problems.

Rajesh has said that too many heavy transport vehicles going towards the railway siding of Vimla also cause dust pollution, due to which the crops in all the surrounding areas are completely destroyed. And by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, they have also accused the siding of violating the norms of pollution norms.

Rajesh has stated that it is extremely important to sprinkle water on all roads used to transport coal from the siding, along with the coal stock on the siding.

Rajesh has also submitted videos and pictures, confirming all these claims well. Along with this, there has also been a demand for action and investigation against the management of Vimala railway siding. To the Chief Engineer of Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station and the District Collector, Copies of the complaint have also been sent.

A senior Maharashtra Pollution Control Board official has well confirmed the receipt of a complaint regarding this. He has also claimed that he has also sent an officer for investigation on this matter and then action will be taken on the basis of his report.
