Nagpur: The people of Nagpur City have paid a fine of close to Rs 4.64 crore for violating the safety protocol of corona virus in the last almost 16 months.
If we look at these figures received from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), from June 2020 to 30 September 2021, Nussence Detection Squad (NDS) has collected a fine of more than Rs 1.98 crore from 46,260 peoples for not wearing masks.
Similarly, a fine of about Rs 70.14 lakh has been collected from around 2,444 shopkeepers for breaking the odd-even rule imposed due to the lockdown in the Nagpur border. The civic police has also imposed a fine of more than Rs 1.95 crore on owners of lawns, marriage halls and shopkeepers for disobeying the corona virus protocol.
No Respect for Covid-19 Protocol
Despite paying such a high amount of fine, many Nagpurians are still found venturing into public places without following the safety protocols of COVID-19.
On visiting many public places including Ganeshpeth Bus Depot, Railway Station, Mor Bhawan City Bus Depot it has been found that there is no respect for the coronavirus protocol. No one is following the Covid safety guidelines. The same was the case with the main commercial areas of Nagpur city such as Cotton Market, Sakkardara, Sitabuldi, Dharampeth, Sadar etc.
Even though a large number of a people can be easily seen roaming around in public places without wearing face masks. The civic police of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is now punishing about 15 to 30 civilians on an average in just a day.
Sources have also said that due to the first wave and second wave of the corona virus pandemic, the Nussence Detection Squad team led by Commandant Virsen Tambe had done a commendable job in implementing all the guidelines on coronavirus. Like face mask must be ruled etc.
