MD medicines worth more than Rs 7.17 lakh found in Nagpur on Monday

City Police Chief Amitesh Kumar Said

The city police have underlined the fact that this was the first time that a consignment of Mephedrone (MD) medicine in Raipur had come on record in the city. Earlier the confiscated Mephedrone (MD) drugs were brought into the city from Mumbai.

The city police chief named Amitesh Kumar has said that a random sweeping campaign was carried out across the city to check for banned substances or narcotics in permit rooms, pubs, parties and even beer bars. But the consignment was confiscated only after an input.

CP has said that now we intend to go deeper into the roots of all these rackets to fully trace their supply chains and networks. Under the leadership of police chief Amitesh Kumar, Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth more than Rs 50 lakh were confiscated this year in 2021 after the arrest of around 23 people till the month of September.

It has also been learned that Mohd Sohel Akhtar used to live in Nagpur earlier and already knew Mohammad Nitin Karingwar. Police have told that Nitin has worked closely with event managers and has also sold balloons at parties. Police have also pointed out that event managers cannot be denied their role as Mephedrone (MD) suppliers.

In this latest raid, Special Anti-Narcotics Team of Crime Branch of Senior PI Sarin Durg, head constable Pradeep Pawar, Assistant PIs Suraj Suroshe, Priti Kulmethe, Rajesh Deshmukh and Nitin Mishra came inside that room, Where Nitin Karingwar and Mohd Sohel Akhtar were discussing their plans. Police have taken Nitin Karingwar and Mohd Sohel Akhtar into custody till October 8.
