NMC Chief Mundhe Hints for yet another Lockdown
Yes, you heard it right, as the Nagpur Municipal Corporation chief Mr. Tukaram Mundhe has hinted for yet another lockdown in the city provided if people are not maintaining the preventive measures. As per the Time of India Nagpur, the NMC chief has warned the people that he can reimpose the complete lockdown with a curfew on lines of other cities if the people in the city continue going with the violations of guidelines. He said if the city is unable to contain the spread of the virus then he has no other option but to impose the complete shutdown.
He was alarmed by the steady rise of the positive cases in the city along with the increasing number of deaths in Nagpur starting from June 1. Mundhe was also seen appealing to the people to continue living in discipline and asked people to register the FIRs for the ones who have been violating the norms as laid down by the civic body in the city. As per the NMC Data, around 1337 cases were reported from 1st June to 10th July. While in the earlier days from 11th March to 31st May, only 495 cases were reported in the city.
The cases have drastically increased in the last one and half months time giving 17 deaths and taking the cumulative figure to more than 2000 now. All thanks to the ease in the lockdown were given by the state government that has allowed a whopping number of cases in the city. Considering the hike in the number of cases in Mumbai and its vicinity along with Pune, the authorities have locked down the suburbs and the city to prevent the spread of the virus.
