Rumor of seeing a tigress with three cubs in Kamptee cantonment area

Nagpur: After rumors of a tigress with three cubs spread in the area of Kampti Cantonment, the forest department has installed three camera traps to verify the animal’s identity.
Nagpur Deputy Conservator of Forests (DyCF) Bharat Singh Hada has said that a section of local media and online portals have reported on Monday that a tigress with three cubs was seen in the area of the cantonment. After which he has sent a team to the spot for verification. The picture of a tigress with cubs used in these reports was also an old picture of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh.
He spoke to a pump house guard, Neesar Ahmed Shaikh Babar (61), who claimed to have seen the tigress with three cubs at around 8 am on Monday, ACF Surendra Kale took the forest team to the spot, has said.
Woman Cattle Rancher
Surendra has said that the pump house is on the bank of river Kanhan. Babur has also said in his written statement that at the time he was on top of the tank, Then he saw a tigress holding a cub in its jaw, about 400-500 meters away. And two others were following him. Neesar Ahmed Shaikh Babar has also claimed that then later the tigress disappeared after about 3-4 stray dogs chased her.
Surendra has also said that he scanned the entire area where Babur had seen the tigress, But there was no pugmark of any kind there, Which they expected to be on the bank of the river. But still, they have installed three camera traps near the area.
The Surendra Kale has also said that the team had also spoken to a woman cattle rancher from the same area. The woman claimed to have seen a big animal glowing with her eyes at around 6.30 pm on Sunday. But he was not sure at all whether it was a leopard or a tiger.
