At present, only 70 km of the approximately 1,200 km is left to be replaced for almost 100% replacement of diesel usage.

Diesel locomotives are replaced
A senior official has said that, in the first half of the current financial year, the South East Central Railway officials have also decided to 100% electrify about 1,200 km within their own limits and also replace diesel-run locomotives with electrified ones. target has been set. The electrification work of the last about 70 km between Chhindwara and Nainpur will be expedited.
After the chief commissioner of railway safety inspection in the last week of the month of March (35 Route Km (RKM) and 38 Track Km (TKM)), South East Central Railway has also, in addition to other 34 TKMs in five sidings, 131 RKM electrification work has been well completed in the year 2021-2022. In the year 2020-21, electrification work has been completed in about 199 km.
An official has said that RKM is about the same distance between two places and TKM is also the length of the tracks, Including siding and other sections. They are targeting almost 100% electrification of both to ensure that the diesel locomotives are completely replaced in the sidings and at the final destination. The official has said that the carbon emissions in diesel engines were high, which will be reduced.
