Sonu Sood launches scholarship program for underprivileged students
Mumbai: Since the global pandemic called for a Nationwide lockdown, Sonu Sood has been the ‘Messiah’ of many. From helping the labourers stuck at distant places reach their hometown to arranging meals for the needy, providing personal protective equipment to the corona warriors or raising voice for the students, Sonu Sood has turned into a real life hero for the lot.
The deadly virus since its beginning has hit several sectors. Be it the economic sector, agricultural or the educational field, struggle is same everywhere. Though the schools and colleges have found an alternative for continuing teaching their students through online medium, there are many students who cannot afford the same.
Due to financial crisis, the dream of education of thousands of poor children is shattered every year. Those coming from backward classes cannot even afford a complete one time meal and struggle to meet their daily needs.
Sonu Sood has once again come forward to help the distressed and provide educational facilities to the needy. The actor, in the memory of his mother Saroj Sood, has initiated a scholarship program for the unprivileged and bright students. He has joined hands with several universities around the country for this purpose.
Taking to his Instagram handle, the actor shared the news.

Students of various streams like Engineering, Medical, Business Studies, Journalism, Fashion, Data Science, Cyber-security, Robotics and Automation, and Artificial Intelligence coming from families earning below 2 lakh annually can apply for the scholarship.
“During the past few months, I have seen how the underprivileged struggled to pay for their children’s education. While some did not have phones to attend online classes, others did not have money to pay the fees,” said the actor.
As per sources, the actor will provide various expenses like course fees, hostel fees, and food expenses, informed the actor.
Remembering his mother, Sonu said that she used to teach students without charging any fees in a Punjab based village. “Before her death, she told me to continue the same and complete the job undone by her. I feel this is the right time,” said the actor.
