Valuables looted by tying senior citizen

Anita Meshram, who lives alone in the house, was shocked when a strange noise caught the attention of this woman.

Nagpur: A 72-year-old woman was tied up by a gang of eight armed robbers at the Welcome Society in Dabha in the early hours of Friday before robbing them of valuables worth around Rs 98,000. And the robbers used hard and sharp tools kept in the house to threaten the elderly woman.

Anita Meshram, who lives alone in the house, was shocked when a strange noise caught the attention of this woman. And before this woman could understand anything, armed dacoits broke into her house by breaking the latch and lock of the front door. These robbers had forced open the second door as well.

Police say that these dacoits tied the hands of this woman to her own sari and then dragged the woman to different rooms of the house. And then asked her to show the place where the valuables were kept. Although this woman was not injured at all, these robbers left her dragging her around her own house.

A stunned Anita later sought help from his son-in-law and daughter. Who live in front of his house. And then later a complaint of this incident was lodged at Gittikhadan police station.

The city police are still trying to scrutinize the CCTV camera footage of these miscreants.

An official has said that the robbers are also likely to be laborers from other states like Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Who were also trying to get their hands on valuables for some pretty quick cash.

In another unrelated incident, earlier this week, a truck driver was stabbed to death by a gang of dacoits on the service road just near Wadhmana. And the victim, a native of another state, had earned the wrath of the dacoits as they were even trying to chase them.

Apart from the police of Gittikhadan, the Crime Branch has also started an investigation into the matter. According to a source, some of the criminals had already been taken into custody for questioning. But till now the police have not got any clue of any kind.
