Hyderabad firm to give nine e-buses to Nagpur Municipal Corporation by month-end

With just two days to go for its last deadline, Nagpur Municipal Corporation too had received a letter from the electric bus manufacturing unit, which was to deliver 40 e-buses by the date of June 15.

Nagpur: After failing to meet more than half a dozen deadlines, Hyderabad-based EV Trans has told the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) that it will deliver nine of the 40 electric vehicles by the end of this month.

With just two days to go for its last deadline, Nagpur Municipal Corporation too had received a letter from the electric bus manufacturing unit, which was to deliver 40 e-buses by the date of June 15.

In this letter also, has invited the civic body to depute officers for inspection of buses on any date from the date of 15th June. The letter also said, “Only once the inspection is complete, the buses will be taken to the Nagpur location.”

Even a senior-most official of the Transport Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation has said that in the month of July, He has promised to provide 25 more buses and the remaining five will join the Aapli bus fleet before the 15th of August. The official said that the firm has already given a prototype of 40 electric MIDI buses to NMC.

The huge delay in the delivery of 40 e-buses was due to the pandemic, due to which there has been an acute shortage of spare parts for e-buses.

Winners of the competition will get cash prizes

The company has also shared the progress of infrastructure work at its depot in Wadi. The civil and electrical infrastructure work was also in progress and it has also requested the civic body to arrange high-tension lines there very soon.

NMC is also planning to organize a competition for those citizens this can also help the Nagpur Municipal Corporation in deciding the color code and theme of the e-buses (for inclusion in the city bus fleet). NMC has also already placed orders for about 144 electric buses from a company in UP and 15 others, which it is getting from Nagpur Smart City.

The winners of the competition will also get cash prizes, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B. “All these (159 e-buses) will be air-conditioned only. Even now, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has decided to keep the fare of air conditioning buses at par with the existing diesel-run buses. The ticket fare for both diesel and air-conditioned Aapli buses will remain the same,” he said.
