After 4 months, 3 Nagpur Municipal Corporation staffersget bail in bogus contracts scam

Nagpur: In the fake contract scam, about three employees of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) got bail after a lapse of four months. Along with this, two more contractors and two employees are still behind the bars.

Advocate Prakash Naidu has submitted that the charge sheet was filed by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) as its investigation was completely over. The money was returned to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation by the contractor before registering the complaint with the police station. His client, Mohan Padwanshi, had nothing to do with the case at all. They had uploaded only a few documents that were not at all related to the approval of the bills.

Mohan is from the General Administration Department (GAD). From this investigation of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, it has been found that Mohan had submitted these fake bills of contractor Padmakar ‘Kolba’ Sakode online and also accepted it. The bills belonged to the Health (Medical) Department only. He submitted this bill and then he got full approval from the general administration department.

Two employees of the Finance Department and Accounts have also been granted bail.

Submitted audio recordings of conversations

Mohan and one of the two employees of the Accounts and Finance Department were arrested on the date of 19 December. Another employee of the Accounts and Finance Department was arrested on the date of 23 December.

The main accused Sakode and his nephew Atul were first arrested on the date of 17 December. He has not got bail yet.

Police officials of the economic offenses wing have said that an investigation is going on in this matter. After the audio recordings obtained from the retired chief accounts of Nagpur Municipal Corporation and finance officer Hemant Thakre came to the fore, the economic offenses wing has reportedly not taken any action. In his statement to Sadar Police and economic offences wing. He had leveled these allegations against several Nagpur Municipal Corporation officials. And then also submitted audio recordings of conversations between him and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation employees.

One of these employees had even spoken to Hemant Thakre about the involvement of a councilor in the matter.
