Police trying to prosecute Jawade’s minor killers as ‘adults’
Sunil was stabbed to death by minors just near his residence at Long March Chowk and which he had also reprimanded for trying to reform them well in the past.
Nagpur: The city’s police are exploring the possibility of prosecuting the minors involved in the murder of 46-year-old social activist Sunil Jawade as ‘adults’ on Thursday, as amended in the Juvenile Justice Act, 2016. After being produced in the special court on Friday, only the four accused have been sent to the government observation home.
Sunil was stabbed to death by minors just near his residence at Long March Chowk. And which he had also reprimanded for trying to reform them well in the past. The minor was upset that Sunil’s nephew had also allegedly raped one of his cousins. Those minors felt that Sunil would rarely even discipline his nephew but mostly targeted him.
Along with this, the local residents were the first to say that if Sunil finds these youth indulging in addictions or neglecting their studies, then he will scold them very much. He was also well known for helping the local residents in times of difficulty.
Bootleggers & Drug Suppliers
CP Amitesh Kumar has said that he has issued instructions to explore legally to ensure that the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) treats minors exactly as adults as per the amended provisions. The CP Amitesh Kumar has said that keeping in view the gravity of the brutality and murder, the police will try to ensure that the JJB calls to classify all these minors as adults. He has also said that a lot of efforts are being made to bring these minors who keep crime records under surveillance.
The CP Amitesh Kumar has also said that it is advised to juvenile offenders or minor offenders with their own families. NGOs will also be involved to assist police officers in their efforts to ensure this. He has also said that he is trying to ensure that minors who have been completely excluded from this education system are helped to resume their studies with the help of NGOs.
Additional CP Navinchandra Reddy has said that a dedicated campaign against bootleggers and drug peddlers will also be launched with a very special emphasis on the eastern part of the city (Zone IV). Reddy has said that every peddler and bootlegger on record will also be under investigation from now on. And they call someone else to sell the narcotics, which will also be traced.
In the same latest murder, these minors had already consumed ganja and some sedatives before zeroing in on Jawade to eliminate him completely.
