Nagpur: Spike in cases of cough, cold, fever due to cold results in less reporting of Covid

Nagpur: Vidarbha region has been experiencing severe cold for the last one week. Due to the wave, almost every household in Vidarbha is suffering from fever, cough, and cold. Whereas in urban areas some patients see doctors And also go to get the RT-PCR test done, And the situation is completely different in rural Vidarbha.

The surge in the omicron virus is more active in rural areas after the decline in municipal cities. But people are not taking advice from doctors at all.

Doctor Amol Ping, who works in Yavatmal, has said that patients with fever, cough, and cold are everywhere. They know it could be an infection with an Omicron virus, But people are considering it as any kind of cold and cough due to changes in weather. And the truth is that most of people are getting better with home remedies.

Nagpur has found very few cases

Experts have also already predicted that this wave will lead to severely under-reporting of coronavirus cases. In a recent seminar organized by the Nagpur branch of the Indian Medical Association, former ICMR chief Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar has said that a very large proportion of coronavirus cases from rural India will go unreported at all. And exactly the same is being seen by the doctors working in the field.

Epidemiologist Anand Thatte has said that under-reporting will lead to confusion about the peak in the Vidarbha region. Due to the available resources, many such cases have been found in Pune and Mumbai. Comparatively, Nagpur has found very few cases. On the same lines, the numbers on paper in rural Vidarbha may also be very less. But this does not mean that this area is still at its peak. Most of the districts of Vidarbha are showing a high prevalence of this virus and this can also be considered as a peak rather than waiting for numbers.
