Despite having worked with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation as medical officers as well, the couple has run private hospitals.
Nagpur: Dr. Shilu Gantawar, a female medical officer of the Indira Gandhi Government has now resigned from the NMC service. A senior official of the Department of General Administration, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has informed that Dr. Shilu Gantawar has tendered his resignation on Wednesday, citing personal reasons.
Dr. Shilu Gantawar is the wife of Dr. Praveen Gantawar, who was recently suspended. And in the marathon of this five-day general meeting held in June 2020, the then Mayor Sandeep Joshi had also ordered the complete suspension of the Gantawar couple for irregularities in attendance. Along with this, even after the Anti-Corruption Bureau detected disproportionate assets of about Rs 2.52 crore in the year 2020, both of them have now reportedly faced corruption charges. And the ACB had also filed a case against him for possessing about 43 percent more assets than his actual income.
Despite having worked with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation as medical officers as well, the couple has run private hospitals. Sources have said that Dr. Praveen and Dr. Shilu both were excellent doctors, especially the former doctor, who is a very good surgeon.
Deputed at Nagpur Municipal Corporation Isolation hospital
It is also learned that there are some more MBBS doctors in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation role who are absent from duty and instead prefer to do private practice.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation sources also told that one such doctor is Dr. Shamina Anjum. Deputed to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s isolation hospital in Imambara, Dr. Anjum used to be absent from her duties since the outbreak of coronavirus in the year 2020. Even the Medical Officer (Health) Dr. Narendra Bahirwar tried hard to save Dr. Anjum.
Dr. Bahirwar had earlier flatly refused to divulge details about Dr. Anjum. Subsequently, she has agreed that she is also facing a departmental inquiry.
