Nagpur: Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has constituted a special investigation team consisting of Crime Branch, Economic Offenses Wing and Cyber Cell officials to investigate the allegation of cash for transfers in the regional transport office department.
Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has said about this that a retired Mumbai regional transport office was in the city recently and many officers of the department from all over Vidarbha have met him to request for transfers. And the footage of eight CCTV cameras of a hotel on Central Bazar Road has been scanned.
Sources have told about this that on the date of March 8, the retired officer from Mumbai had checked in at a posh hotel in Ramdaspeth area. And he stayed there for a day on the third floor of the hotel where many serving officers of the department met him. It was also alleged that the former officer also had close links with the state transport ministry and helped officials of the department get desired postings.
Calling the regional transport office officials for discussion
This person was in the news earlier also due to his increasing meetings with the then Transport Minister. Ever since the change of power in Maharashtra, former officers have become active once again. And now they are directly calling the regional transport office officials for discussion by saying that they are close to the Transport Minister, sources said.
The CP said, ‘Though the Nagpur City Police has not received any complaint, we have started an investigation based on some media reports.’
The team has also started scanning the CCTV footage of eight cameras installed inside the hotel areas like lobby, front parking etc for around 10 hours.
“Preliminary probe reveals that around 5 to 7 officers of the department had met the retired officer. We have started questioning them.
