Ayurveda intern asked to join Covid ward of AIIMS without any honorarium

But in the order issued by the collector, there is no mention of coronavirus special allowance or remuneration to these doctors at all.

Nagpur: Collector of district Nagpur has asked around 66 interns of private and around 20 semi-government Ayurvedic colleges in the city to join AIIMS dedicated corona virus hospital with effect from January 1.

But Collector of district Nagpur issued the order, there is no mention of coronavirus special remuneration or allowance to these doctors at all. Being an intern he is also not eligible for corona virus life insurance at all. Nor do they get any help for treatment in case they become infected. These doctors have also demanded that they should be given a salary as per rules.

Dr. Rahul Raut, Secretary of State, Student Forum of NIMA has said that In a letter issued by the Director of AYUSH of Maharashtra State in April 2021, it has been clearly stated that BAMS doctors should be paid around Rs 60,000 per month to work in a hospital dedicated to coronavirus. There is no mention of any remuneration in any way in the order of the Collector of Nagpur.

Delegation Ayurveda Doctors

The government does not offer any kind of stipend at all to postgraduate interns and students studying in private Ayurveda colleges. Internship trainees working in government Ayurveda colleges and government-aided colleges also get a stipend of around Rs 11,000, much less than their MBBS counterparts, who get Rs 60,000 per month for coronavirus service.

A delegation of these Ayurveda doctors recently met the Divisional Commissioner Prajakta Lavangare Verma and submitted a memorandum. Rutuja Chaure who has represented the doctors. They have said that how can they work without any pay. If they are appointed to the Corona service of AIIMS, then they should get the remuneration they are entitled to.
