Clean city competition sweeps chandrapur city

Chandrapur: Take a tour around the city and you will find a unique view of citizens – old and young, men and women – thoroughly cleaning the streets, squares, gardens, and open spaces in every ward.
Offering cash prizes and trophies, as well as awards for development, work up to Rs 50 lakhs announced by the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation, the ‘Cleanliness and Beautification League Competition’ is the driving force behind the boom in community cleaning and beautification.
A total of 52 groups, each with at least 25 members, are participating in this month-long community campaign. The competition formally started on the date of 1 November, And Municipal Commissioner Vipin Paliwal has also claimed that its purpose is to increase public participation in keeping the city clean and making it more beautiful under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
He also mentioned that NGOs, social and youth organizations, and people’s groups are also participating in the campaign with the theme ‘My contribution to my city’.
Participating groups like Hindu Rashtra Samuha, Swaraj Foundation, Vanar Mitra Sena, Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Sangh, etc. have also started cleanliness and beautification drives in their respective wards. And along with this people can also be seen cleaning their areas, segregating the garbage, planting trees, and painting the road dividers.

CMC is also providing the limited quantity of saplings and paints to the groups participating in this campaign, But these groups will have to arrange other materials. And the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation has also finalized a scoring system for the competition. Those participating in the drive claimed that he has also taken a pledge to make his ward garbage-free and ban the use of single-use plastic. Because such steps will only help them to score marks in the competition.
The CMC has also offered a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a trophy, and the first prize for development and beautification work worth Rs 25 lakh to the ward of the winning group. Similarly, the second prize winner also gets Rs 71 thousand in cash, a trophy and civil work worth Rs 15 lakh. The third prize will be Rs 51,000 in cash, trophy, and works worth Rs 10 lakh. Apart from this, an additional prize of Rs 21,000 will also be given for making the best out of waste.
