Quit for failing to fulfill the promise of full statehood: Activists to MPs

All the protesters have also accused the MPs of making a U-turn from their promises of granting statehood before the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Nagpur: Activists under the aegis of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) staged demonstrations in front of the houses of MPs (MPs) in Nagpur, Ramtek, and Chandrapur on Friday.

Demanding his resignation for his failure to raise the demand for Vidarbha state in Parliament, All the protesters have also accused the MPs of making a U-turn from their promises of granting statehood before the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Along with this, he has also raised anti-government slogans for neglecting the backward area for years.

Chandrapur MP Balu Dhanorkar had not only welcomed the protestors with roses but also assured them that he would do everything possible to fulfill their long-standing demand.

Nagpur MP Nitin Gadkari and Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane did not come to the city to meet the protesters at all.

All the protesters were going towards Nitin Gadkari’s house when the police stopped the protestors at Khamla Square, which led to a brief confrontation. And the police completely foiled attempts by some protesters to break barricades.

Secretary to the Union Transport Minister also invited the delegation to his office and accepted the representation of all their demands. Along with this, Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti workers also handed over a similar memorandum to Krupal Tumane’s personal assistant Amit Kature.

In Chandrapur, the workers were led by a senior pro-Vidarbha leader and three-time former MLA Wamanrao Chatap, and former deputy speaker of the state assembly Moreshwar Tembhurde.

In Nagpur, VRAS East Vidarbha President Arun Kedar and Yuva Aghadi Vidarbha Pradesh President Mukesh Masurkar also led the march. And many activists like Sunita Yerne, Prabhakar Kondbattunwar, Anil Bobde, Tatyasaheb Matte, Ashok Patil, and others participated in the protest march.
