The change in his BP and diabetes pills is for the betterment of the patients, said doctors who spoke on new updates in cardiology and diabetes during a conference organized by the Association of Medical Faculties (AMF) and Rhythm Heart and Critical Care on Sunday.
“Every year a game-changing therapy is introduced in the field of heart failure and diabetes management. Because of the very strong pharmaceutical research in India, we get these advanced drugs at affordable prices within two-three years.” said Dr. Manish Juneja, Interventional Adult, and Pediatric Cardiologist.
“For example, right now we even have an injection that has to be taken about once a month. This injection keeps your cholesterol under control. Earlier it used to cost more than Rs 55,000, but the Indian version is now available for less than Rs 30,000. Soon, we will get a cheaper make of this injection.” Dr. Manish Juneja said. Elevated cholesterol is also a well-established risk factor for the development of heart disease.
Organizers are going to organize similar educational programs
Dr. Prasad Zode, President, AMF, Nagpur has also said that the brand new BP tablets not only benefit the heart but also take care of other very important organs. “There are drugs like ‘ARNI’, or ‘SGLT2. They keep your sugar levels perfectly normal and protect your kidneys and brain by maintaining proper blood pressure. Association of Medical Faculties continues to share these advances with doctors,” Dr. Prasad Zode said.
It is also claimed that more than 400 doctors from all over Vidarbha and neighboring states have participated in the scientific session ‘Cardiology Update’ at Nagpur.
Cardiologist Dr. Pankaj Raut has also said that doctors from far-flung areas must take these updates. “Many doctors in rural areas still prescribe medicines that are about ten years old for heart patients. New drug treatments increase longevity and protect other vital organs. Hence, doctors from rural areas were specially invited to this conference.” Dr Pankaj Raut added.
The organizers are also going to organize similar educational programs every year to update the doctors of this entire region. Experts from renowned multispeciality hospitals in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad have also participated in the two-day event.
