ED action against advocate Satish Ukey in connection with case registered by Nagpur Police: Devendra Fadnavis

Nagpur: Devendra Fadnavis, Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra assembly, has completely rejected the allegations of central agencies targeting Congress state unit president Nana Patole’s lawyer, saying that the original case was registered by the Nagpur Police.

Advocate Satish Ukey, representing Congress state unit president Nana Patole in the high profile Rashmi Shukla defamation case, was picked up by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday and taken to Mumbai.

Devendra Fadnavis has said that whatever he has gathered through the media, it appears that it is in relation to a case registered by the Nagpur Police.

He has also said that Advocate Satish Ukey is known for his court disputes.

The former Chief Minister has said that many FIRs have been registered against him in the last few years. Along with this, the court also imposed a fine on him, for which he went to the Supreme Court and the issue is still completely pending.

Action against his lawyer

Several years ago, the lawyer had filed a complaint against Devendra Fadnavis alleging that he had concealed facts in his election affidavit.

Last year, he alleged that Devendra Fadnavis had used spy software Pegasus to obtain a copy of his petition from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Patole had exposed the Satish Ukey-ED controversy when he reached Nagpur airport in the early hours of Friday.

When asked for his response on the action against his lawyer, Patole has said that, By saying that he (Satish Ukey) is their lawyer, the Bharatiya Janata Party is trying too hard to defame him. Lawyers can defend anyone. Today a lawyer can go to court on his behalf, tomorrow only the same lawyer can fight against him. Because of this, the opposition is trying to defame him and the Congress party by using the word ‘Patole lawyer’.
